News agencies claim that four Cameroonian soldiers were arrested for participating in a disturbing video that provoked outrage on social media. In the clip, men in military fatigues draw two women, one with a baby on the back, and a little girl.
They are accused of being linked to the Islamist group Boko Haram .
The United Kingdom and the United States expressed concern about the video and asked to be held accountable for their actions.
The details of the arrests are still unclear, but a government spokesman denies that they have occurred. Communications Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary told the BBC that the government did not yet know the origins of the video.
He added that there were two versions of the clip: one where soldiers wore Cameroonian uniforms and another where they appeared to be.
Amnesty International stated that she had credible evidence that the men in the video were indeed Cameroonian soldiers based on an badysis of their weapons, speeches and uniforms.
Two military sources told Reuters that the video was filmed in 2014 or 2015, in the first months of Cameroonian operations against Boko Haram
The Cameroonian army is deployed in the region of the Far North to counter the frequent incursions of Nigeria's Boko Haram fighters, where they are based.
Rights groups accused the Cameroonian armed forces of committing war crimes in their fight against the militant group.
