Esther Arunga was released by an Australian court after being convicted of the murder of her three-year-old son in 2014.
Judge Martin Burns sentenced him to 10 months in prison, but released him immediately on condition.

Ms. Arunga admitted to having lied to the police in order to help her husband, Quincy Timberlake, avoid the penalties.
Mr. Timberlake is accused of killing their son, Sinclair Timberlake. The boy died from blunt trauma to the abdomen in 2014 in the family home of Kallangur, Australia.
In his ruling on Thursday, Justice Burns, quoted by the Australian Associated Press, reportedly stated that he understood his situation when she spoke to the police who were investigating the death of his son.
"You must be taken for being shocked by the death of your son, at the time you were interrogated (…) and to be more afflicted by your loss," he said. .
He concluded that Ms. Arunga's cultural beliefs had been instrumental and that she had "suffered a great deal" over the last five years.
"You went from a wife and a mother who, at the time, was badfeeding a six-month-old baby and was also trying to establish your young family in a new country, to lose your son, your husband and your daughters, "he said.
