The country is in a transition phase and it goes without saying that people are eager to see dramatic changes in all areas of life. This can be in the socio-economic circles, the educational field, the political spectrum and even the psychological growth of average Sierra Leoneans.
Imagine having a president who claims to listen to people but does not do people's desires or a leader who listens attentively to the woes and screams of ordinary citizens and creates the avenue to solve the problem.
In the scenario above, the latter can be considered the best for the transformation of the country.
Sierra Leone faces two major problems since the elections that marked the beginning of the Sierra Leonean People's Party
. Some politicians consider it a taboo subject of discussion.
Others use it as a mechanism for the consciousness of ordinary people. Some politicians have used it consciously, and have succeeded to a large extent.
CORRUPTION and TRIBALISM are the two main ducks that feed quickly into the heart of the geopolitics of the country.
Imagine a country where politics and ethnic division is the norm; a country where tribalism thrives as intensely as corruption.
Here, tribalism is the act of judging and condemning someone only because he or she comes from a certain tribe or social group. Is not it ridiculous?
President Maada Bio has just completed his first hundred days in power (for me, a hundred days is insignificant, especially in a third world country), and people yearn for rapid change. To his credit, he instituted mechanisms to check corruption, incompetence and deadwood in some institutions. If this is implemented, it will lead to a redesign of the economy and structural changes for the country.
It's a dream that all Sierra Leoneans pray and wish because it's the only way the country will prosper. However, tribalism and corruption seem to be on the lips of most Sierra Leoneans.
It is a cancer that can destroy a country and our president must listen and act decisively to smother it in the bud
The Anti-Corruption The Commission began to curb and it is the believed belief that corruption is treated as a national curse regardless of tribe, ethnicity and favoritism.
The judicial system must not be selective and a crime committed by an individual must be punished by all those who commit the same crime
Tribalism kills a country and most African countries have suffered enormously from this plague.

Some incompetent politicians exploited tribal loyalty to advance their personal interests, parochial interests, favoritism and favoritism

Leaders focused primarily on pursuing their tribal interests rather than on a common political agenda. you speak rather than your personality. The absurdity of all this makes you wonder when you have made a request to God personally, asking to be born into a particular tribe.
Rwanda is unfortunately a good example of a country that has experienced one of the worst genocides in the world. Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia and many others have suffered post-election violence due to tribal tensions.
Votes are not based on ideological affiliations or preferences, but on tribal identities. The mentality of voting for a drug dealer, a murderer, a saint, a corrupt narcissist, a peacemaker or even a demon just because he comes from your tribe is false and useless.
Sometimes people prefer to hire from their own tribe and do business with people from their own area. They do it not because they are naughty, but because they are more comfortable to stick to the familiar.
This, however, excludes better-suited and more experienced people who might have been better suited to a business. Tribalism is therefore an obstacle to development.
I have seen areas where President Maada Bio acted appropriately and decisively to stifle some vices in the bud. It's a novelty and hope that it continues with determination and sincerity.
Tribalism should not be used by opponents to criticize the new administration, and the new administration must ensure that all decisions made reflect national interests and not a region or tribe. Aspects of justice, appointments and opportunities need to be spread evenly across the country. This makes a politician a leader
In Sierra Leone, most incompetent politicians use tribalism to evade their constitutional responsibilities. Tribalism has become the first refuge of the incompetent and has been used to arm our politics.
The late Joseph Saidu Momoh was enlisted in the AKUTAY tribal group that became more powerful than his party that gave him power. As a result, most politicians and fraudulent and incompetent businessmen used the group as a subterfuge to penetrate their influence in mainstream politics in order to corrupt the system.
I heard that the President Bio listens very well. He must listen to the cries of the people of Sierra Leone. Tribalism is an intrinsic value in us, but it should not be used as a criterion for seeking employment, escaping justice or engaging in corruption. (Photo: author – Ibrahim Sourie Mansaray)
The greatest enemy of President Maada Bio could be himself. He has the opportunity to transform himself into a statesman in Africa. Sierra Leone is blessed with competent, resilient and grateful people who know the leaders who are on their side.
President, you must suppress tribalism and decimate corruption. Your heritage will speak for you. If the president is a leader, he should know that the people of Sierra Leone want corruption and tribalism to be minimized in the country.
