President Uhuru Kenyatta sent a congratulatory message to Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on the occasion of the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the country, which took place on January 1, 2019.

Uhuru noted that Kenya and Cuba are working closely together in various sectors and reaffirmed Kenya's aspiration to deepen these relations.

The President has conveyed his messagethrough CS Monica Juma, Foreign Affairs.

"The recent state visit to Cuba, which led to the dispatch of 100 Cuban specialists to Kenya and 50 Kenyan doctors in training in Cuba, has strengthened ties," Juma said Monday.

Last year, at least 50 Kenyan doctors arrived in Cuba to undergo specialized medical training. The doctors were admitted to the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana.

This was in line with the MoU led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Cuban counterpart in March.

The purpose of this partnership is to strengthen Universal Healthcare, one of the four pillars that President Uhuru Kenyatta prioritized during his second term.
