A Kenyan woman was arrested after attempting to raid a bank in Texas and later used a baby to deter police from arresting him.

The woman, identified as Evelyn Misumi, aged 36, had gone to the bank alone and armed with a hammer and was threatening to to set fire by claiming money from frightened watchmen.

According to Fox4, Misumi had Thursday poured gasoline into the Bank of America lobby in Murphy, Texas, threatening to set the building on fire in an attempted robbery.

However, the bank tellers quietly alerted the police who arrived quickly and found the suspect as she was leaving the crime scene.

The police used pepper spray and a taser to prevent him from escaping, but Misumi managed to reach his car, which had an unidentified child.

The Texas woman reportedly took the child out of the car. , Using it as a human shield to deter police from shooting at her for fear of harming the young person.
