In the town of Kismayo, they scream loudly, overlap, pick and drop pbadengers in the middle of the road, causing unpleasant traffic jams.

It is hard to imagine that this port city was ravaged by the war a few years ago. The shops have gradually taken over and the public beaches are filling up again.
Only a meeting with the peacekeepers reminds us that under the nail of tranquility, the enemy is always present.
Kismayo has a new airport, Sayid Mohammed Abdule Hbadan Airport, according to a hero of the Somali liberation. On the way to the old airport that had been abandoned after the Al Shabaab's emptying, the streets are bustling with commercial activities.

These are even Mpesa stores and in the afternoon, Khat sellers fill the streets.
Solar powered lights illuminate the road leading to the harbor. New buildings are under construction and the works are non-stop in a nearby quarry that produces building stones.
The majority of the population are pastoralists, but the seaport has opened up new opportunities. The city now boasts of some upscale hotels.

According to Lieutenant Colonel, the commanding officer of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion based in Kismayu, Meshack Kishoyian, the city fills up at night.
"It's also the month of Ramadhan and people are going to break their fast," he says.
At the port of Kismayu, heavily loaded vans and trucks roar. Ahmed Haji Adan Kismayo, the director of the port, attributes the order to Kenyan troops to restore order.
"They sacrificed their lives for us," says Aden.
According to him, the port has been flourishing since 2012. He fears for the city if Kenyan forces withdraw. Al Shabaab could be defeated, he said, but they are not completely defeated.
But according to Lieutenant Kishoyian, Kismayo is calm for the moment and Kenyan forces are ready to repress any threat emanating from Shabaab.
"We are vigilant," he said.
