Three influential women of the # MeToo movement receive an MIT award for disobedience for the good of society.
The MIT Media Lab Disobedience Award includes a prize of $ 250,000 funded by LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman.
This year's awards will be shared by Tarana Burke, BethAnn McLaughlin and Sherry Marts. Burke is an activist who coined the phrase "Me too" over ten years before it became a slogan for survivors of badual violence. McLaughlin and Marts fought harbadment in scientific fields.
The organizers say the award highlights effective ethical disobedience in various disciplines such as scientific research, civil rights, freedom of speech and human rights.
Four finalists will each receive $ 10,000.
Last year, the award was given to two people who faced lead-contaminated water problems in Flint, Michigan.
