A cache of counterfeit foreign currency and gold nuggets was seized during a search in a building of Kiboko-Mukoma Road in Nairobi.

Inspectors from the Criminal Investigations Department said on Tuesday that they also arrested 8 suspects, including four foreign nationals.

"An early raid by @DCI_Kenya on the Kiboko to Mukoma road has resulted in the recovery of millions of fake US dollars, Zambian kwacha and more than 100 kilograms of fake gold nuggets. Four foreigners: 1 Congolese, 2 Tanzanians, 1 Nigerian and 4 Kenyans arrested. To be charged in court today [Tuesday], Said DCI in a tweet.

The Kenyans who were seized during the raid were identified as: Mr. Boniface Mtwasi Anjere, Mr. Robert Riagah, Mr. Arthur Caleb Otieno and Mr. Michael Omondi Okengo.

Alongside the Kenyans were two Tanzanians (Manson Chogga Mtbadi and Konie Kalist), Congolese Ruhota Kabagale and Nigerian Chukunosho Francis Ogbuanu.

In the past two months, billions of false funds have been seized in the Nairobi metropolitan area.

In February, police said they seized 32 billion Shill for a house in Ruiru, Kiambu prefecture, and in March seized 2 billion Shul stored in a safe from Barclays Bank.

But the owner of the money seized at the Barclays Bank branch in Queensway, Nairobi, Eric Adede, denied that the money was wrong and asked the court to force the police to bring him to justice.
