A Ugandan minister gave the order to shoot to kill any Kenyan pastor who entered the country while he was armed.

Moses Kizige, Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs, ordered the Ugandan People's Defense Forces (UPDF) in Amudat to celebrate the day of the National Resistance Movement on 26 January.

He added that the government had disarmed the Karimojong warriors but that their peace was being threatened by armed robbers of Pokot and Turkana from Kenya and South Sudan.

"The government has not disarmed the Karimojong to allow armed pastors from neighboring countries to disturb them. We will now start killing them to save the life of our harmless people in Karamoja, "he said.

Kizige, however, said Uganda is ready to help its disciplined neighbors.

Celebrations on "A Moment of Glory That Laid a New Chapter for Unity, Peace and Prosperity in Uganda" were the first to be held in Amudat district.

Amudat Resident District Commissioner Robert Adyama urged leaders to respect national duties.

He said that through these functions, the public was kept informed of government policies.
