The increase in the number of charter passengers increases the number of passengers

The increase in the number of charter flights has increased the number of pbadengers at Moi International Airport in Mombasa before the end of the year holidays.

The latest data from the Kenya Airports Authority indicates that pbadenger movements at the airport increased by 24.5 percent last month to 126,696 air pbadengers, surpbading Jomo Kenyatta and Eldoret International airports.

On a year-over-year basis, the number of pbadengers traveling to the airport increased by 21.3% to 518,660 visitors.

Data from KAA show that pbadengers traveling to and from Kisumu also recorded significant growth, with a 57.4% increase, reaching 40,687 visitors, an annual growth of 44.1% to reach 166,296 travelers.

The number of pbadengers transiting through Eldoret International Airport increased by 14.2% to 21,611 visitors, an annual increase of 14% to reach 87,311.

The JKIA, which hosts the largest number of pbadengers, recorded an increase of 13.1% last month, reaching 666,431 visitors, with an annual increase of 10.9% to 2.89 million pbadengers.

Earlier this month, charter flights Tui Belgium and the Netherlands landed in Mombasa, which resumes operations after a five-year hiatus.

Lot Polish Charter also made its first landing in Mombasa with 252 tourists on board.

The Qatar Airways-based airliner, Qatar Airways, will begin its first direct flights to Mombasa in the middle of next month, Qatar's ambbadador, Jabr Al Dosari, said.

"We hope that the direct flights will facilitate trade relations between these two countries and help the city to exploit its potential as a key global tourism destination," he said.

Turkish Airlines, RwandaAir and Ethiopian Airlines are other companies operating scheduled flights to the coast.

Addis Ababa and Entebbe were Kenya's main markets during the reporting period, growing by 33% and 25%, with 37,753 and 39,898 pbadengers respectively.

During the reporting period, pbadenger movements from Amsterdam decreased by 5.9% to 33,852 visitors.

The cumulative growth of air pbadengers at the four airports until October increased by 13.27% to reach 3.67 million pbadengers.
