Ugandan authorities confirm that they hold the young South Sudanese mogul allegedly for unspecified "criminal activities".

Ugandan authorities have now confirmed the arrest of South Sudan's tycoon Lawrence Malong Junior, who was allegedly missing by his family in Kampala last week.

The much-feared International Organization for Security and Safety (ISO), said to detain this man, as announced by the government newspaper Sunday vision.

According to ISO Director General Kaka Bagyenda, Malong Junior is being held for various "criminal activities", details of which have not been disclosed.

"It's a person who interests us as a security and it's true that we have it. He helps us in the investigations and at the right time, you will be duly informed of the charges against him, "Bagyenda said.

Malong Junior was reportedly arrested by the military uniform of the Hotel Milano in Kabalagala last Wednesday around 10 am.

Ugandan police had previously denied that the young South Sudanese were invited by the state.

Independent reports also suggest that Malong Junior is being held in connection with a scam on gold processing in which several foreigners have lost billions of shillings.

The young South Sudanese is famous for his video recording "swimming" in a pile of banknotes in US dollars, then to pbad over his vast wealth in the Kenyan media.

During this television interview, Malong displayed his shoes and wristwatch which, according to him, are worth millions of shillings. He also claimed to live in a presidential suite in a five-star hotel in Nairobi at a cost of 250,000 shillings a day.
