The United Kingdom, joined by the Government of Sierra Leone, the United Nations, civil society and disability organizations, and the British Council, hold a satellite summit in the lead-up to the World Summit on Human Rights. handicap, July 24 in London. This was one of many events that took place around the world in the lead up to the World Disability Summit in London, organized by the UK Government, in partnership with the Government of Kenya and the United Kingdom. Sierra Leone has shown strong support for this program and will be represented at the World Summit on Disability by Ms. Nabeela Tuni, Minister of Planning and Economic Development; Ms. Baindu Dbadam, Minister of Social Affairs, Gender and Children; and Mr. Mohamed Haji-Kella, Vice Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children. Joseph Alieu, head of the Social Protection Society for People with Disabilities in Kambia, will also participate in the World Summit to represent civil society and people with disabilities in Sierra Leone.
The Government of Sierra Leone, the United Nations and other participating organizations the "Charter for Change" and has engaged in a series of actions, including the promotion of 39: quality inclusive education for children with disabilities; to open the roots of economic empowerment and financial inclusion; use the Washington Group Questions to collect and use better data to understand the magnitude and nature of the challenges; and promote leadership and representation of people with disabilities. Participants also pledged to come back together after the World Disability Summit in London to develop a work plan to implement these commitments.
