[사설] South and North Together … Commemorative Project for the 100th Anniversary of the March 1 Movement

The commemoration ceremony commemorating the centenary of the creation of the March 1st Movement and the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea was held at the Seoul Culture Station 284 (formerly Seoul History). The committee, which was launched today, is the organization that will promote the March 1 movement and the commemoration project of the interim government in Korea next year as co-chair of Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon and former Deputy Prime Minister Han Wan. Mr. Moon Jae-in, who attended the ceremony, emphasized the importance of the commemoration project for the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Provisional Government and the March 1 Movement. "We have a proud history of 100 years in the Democratic Republic, the commemoration of the centenary of the Movement and the Provisional Government of 1 March should be the basis of a just and equitable country." This highlights the movement of 1 March and the historical legitimacy of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. The history of the administration of Lee Myung Bak and the history of the textbooks of the National Assembly, called "National Founding Words", were heard. The regime of Lee and Park and some of them insisted on the establishment of the government on August 15, 1948, and they angered many people who considered the interim government as the moment of foundation.

The commemoration of the centenary of the creation of the March 1st Movement and the appointment of the government will be promoted jointly. President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il discussed the promotion of the commemoration of the centenary of the March 1 Movement at the April 27 summit. If the South and the North share the history of the independence movement as President Moon said, it is certain that their minds will come closer. I can not help but wait for the government's 100th anniversary project.

Suwon City created the Committee for the commemoration of the centenary of the March Movement and the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. It was launched on January 24th of this year after holding a preparatory meeting last year. More than 170 people, including academics, religious groups, journalists, representatives of social and civic groups, city councilors and representatives of the government of Suwon City, participate. Commemorative projects include ▲ construction facilities (3) ▲ academic / exhibitions (7) ▲ inter-Korean exchanges (2) ▲ ceremonies / cultural events (10) ▲ civic education (5) It is conducted in six areas. Among them, inter-Korean trade between Suwon and Gaeseong is also included. It is hoped that central and local governments, as well as the South and North, will come together in a significant and meaningful event.
