Allergy to dyes … Know what the side effects are (Research)
If you feel itchy or tingly after dyeing, it may be an allergy to hair dyes .
The Department of Dermatology at St. Mary's Hospital in Seoul, Lee Jun-Young and Professor Han Joo-Hee, badyzed 105 patients with allergic skin allergies between July 2009 and March 2015. . Clinical symptoms, signs, badociated skin diseases, contact dermatitis, and patterns of dye use were confirmed by examining and questioning retrospective medical records.
The team badyzed the exposure time, PPD positivity and allergic correlations to PPD dye, known as the causative agent of contact dermatitis, among the dye components.
The results of the badysis showed that dye allergies were more common in children over 50 years of age. The most common symptoms complained of by the patient were itching, tingling, and dryness. The most commonly observed lesions were irritable spots and half (flat lesions), and skin elevations and vital signs were frequently observed
The most common site of symptoms was facial symptoms in 57.1% of cases . The symptoms appeared on the face. The following sites were found on the scalp, neck, torso (abdomen and back) and hands.
It should be noted that most patients (80%) reported having allergies to dyeing, and that allergies were more likely to occur throughout the body but continued to dye. Only 28.6% of patients stopped using hair dye after a skin allergy confirmed by a skin reaction test.
Contact allergy caused by hair dye can cause scratches or rubbing on the skin due to itching.
Allergies to dyes can be easily identified at home.It can also be used to treat skin allergies, such as chronic allergic skin lesions with rough skin and skin irritation with swelling of the skin . Dye the dyes on the tampon before dying and put them inside your arms or behind your ears, then look for skin reactions for 48 hours. It is convenient to apply dyes to the disposable gauze strip as the dye may run on clothing. It is good to dye when there is no abnormality like tickling, swelling and the flow of authentic things.
Professor Lee Jun-young said, "Clinical symptoms and allergic avoidance are important for the effective treatment of hair allergies." "Antihistamines and steroids can relieve itchy skin."
The results of this study were published in the June issue of the journal Annals of Dermatology published by the Korean Dermatological Association.
