The Baltic states celebrating centuries of modern statehood are well aware of the cost of wars, deportations and the fact that peace is not a gift – it must be defended. Therefore, today, when the word "war" – trade, information and cybernetics – is heard more often than "peace", Europe must remain united
. The country's leader also stressed that Europe must badume more responsibility for its own security. and the maintenance of peace. The President also stressed the importance of the links between Lithuania and Germany in North Rhine-Westphalia, as stated in the presidential letter, which should be strengthened in the rule of law, solidarity and mutual trust.
It is a region close to Lithuania, where many Lithuanian and Baltic refugees found shelter after the Second World War, including the Lithuanian philosopher Vydūnas who wrote about peace. Today, the famous region of North Rhine-Westphalia, the industry of energy, automotive and electronics well known, is the main partner of Lithuania in Germany.
Tomorrow, in the historic city of Munster, in North Rhine-Westphalia, the President will withdraw the prestigious Peace Prize of Westphalia for the three Baltic States for the benefit of the Lithuanian people.
