As reported by the organizers, two teams of 12 people leave the mission. The two missions in Kazakhstan will start at the same point in Karaganda, and another will head to Balchash while another mission will be executed by Jazzkazgan

During the mission, we will try to restore monuments, find tombs Lithuanians in the common cemetery of cities.

According to the organizer, this expedition is different from those taking place in Siberia because people in Kazakhstan have experienced exile rather than detentions.

In the former Kazakhstani SSR, there were several dozen camps where some 20,000 political prisoners were detained in Lithuania. According to the scale of the imprisonment and burial of Lithuanian exile, only Russia is ahead of Kazakhstan.

The expedition will continue for 10 days, mission participants will return to Lithuania on July 29.

The "Siberian Mission" project has been operational since 2006. During this period, more than 150 Lithuanian cemeteries were set up by Lithuanian expatriates and detention centers in Siberia – Russia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan

During the Soviet occupation, more than 280,000 people were deported to Lithuania and the camps. people
