UFC lightweight Luis Pena could be in legal trouble again.
On Saturday, Pena was jailed for the second time in 2021. Police in Deerfield Beach, Fla., Arrested the fighter on charges of domestic violence and assault and battery. Pena was sentenced to the Broward County Jail in Fort Lauderdale.
In June, Pena was arrested in Coral Springs, Florida on charges of robbery, bodily harm and criminal mischief.
The first charge arising from Saturday’s arrest is a misdemeanor battery charge with a bail amount of $ 1,000. The second is a misdemeanor domestic violence charge and does not have a bond amount stated as a bail hearing is required.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to MMA Junkie’s request for further information on Pena’s arrest with the following statement:
At approximately 12:34 a.m., deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Deerfield Beach responded to a domestic disturbance call near the 200 block of 12th Avenue South East in Deerfield Beach. On the spot, the deputies made contact with several subjects and Luis Antonio Peña was then arrested and taken into police custody. Peña was transported to BSO’s main prison and faces one single count and one domestic violence count (both misdemeanor). The investigation is continuing.

Pena, 28, has not fought since an April win over Alexander Munoz in the UFC on ESPN 22 and currently has no fight scheduled.
Pena posted a photo in her Instagram Stories with girlfriend Jamie Driver, a fighter with six pro fights who recently competed in 2019 on Friday.
The caption with the photo reads: “You really thought it was over? “
It is not known if Driver was the same woman involved in the incident in June, as that woman’s name has been redacted from police reports and has not been made public. It is also not known if Driver was involved in the events surrounding Pena’s arrest on Saturday.
UPDATE: The statement provided by Broward Sherrif’s office has been included above. Additionally, a correction was made to correct Pena’s charges that were originally listed as crimes. According to the released statement, both counts are misdemeanors.
