Measles case confirmed in Meadville

MEADVILLE – Meadville Medical Center reports that a confirmed case of measles was identified in a patient on May 28 2019 in the emergency department.

There is no longer a risk of infection in the emergency department, however, anyone in the vicinity of the emergency department and at the nearby entrance on May 28th. 2019 between 10:30 and 1:00 may be exposed to a possible exposure.

People who have been vaccinated against measles, mumps and rubella should be safe from exposure.

The symptoms of measles include fever, rash, cough, runny nose, inflamed eyes or tiny white spots inside the mouth. Yes If you experience these symptoms, please contact your health care provider. According to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), the people most at risk of contracting measles are unvaccinated persons, children under 5, pregnant women and people whose immune systems are weakened.
