Miami-Dade Mayor announces launch of county-run COVID dating site

MIAMI – According to the Centers for Disease Control, there are now 125 cases of the B117 strain, also known as the British variant. This variant has been detected in Florida, with more than half of the cases in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

The race is on for Southern Floridians to get vaccinated. On Sunday, Hard Rock Stadium vaccinated 1,200 people.

Researchers at the University of Miami are actively looking for case variants by examining the virus in patients at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

With Floridians struggling to make appointments since vaccine distribution began, the state hopes to make things easier with a centralized website: myvaccine.fl.gov.

Meanwhile, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said on Sunday this week in South Florida that the county will also unveil a similar listing site this week.

“The biggest problem is the supply,” Levine Cava said. “We’ll only allow people to sign up once and leverage that list as supply becomes available, but we won’t make an appointment until we get our allocation.” every week.”

Lack of access and mistrust are among the reasons infectious disease expert Dr Hansel Tookes blames this phenomenon.

“There is a deep mistrust of the vaccine in minority communities, and Tuskegee is an example of evil, but what I say to my patients is that we cannot allow the evil of what happened in Tuskegee hurting us today in 2021, ”Dr. Tookes said Sunday this week in South Florida.

The extent to which the vaccines will protect against the British strain is also being researched locally. The most transmissible British strain is potentially more dangerous.
