KINGMAN – After a ‘town hall’ on face masks in Mohave County buildings that led to the removal of the mandate, the Mohave County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a public meeting with local business owners and citizens Regarding COVID-19 Safety Measures for Businesses Affected by Arizona Gov Executive Order from Doug Ducey that placed additional burdens on businesses as restaurants.
The meeting is scheduled for noon on Monday, November 9 and will be held at the County Administration Building at 700 W. Beale St. in Kingman.
The initiative came from District 2 Supervisor Hildy Angius, who said at the November 2 board meeting that citizens and business owners deserve to be able to explain the consequences of the measures. current security levels of COVID-19 on their businesses.
“They have the right to voice their concerns,” Angius said.
Angius deliberately did not call for a town hall, as President Jean Bishop suggested, because she wanted to ensure that both parties – not just the public – will be allowed to speak.
Angius offers to take another look at the governor’s decree that, while committing the Mohave County Public Health Department to some sort of enforcement of the order, allows local officials to decide how to enforce it.
Deputy County District Attorney Ryan Esplin confirmed that was the case. He gave the example of speeding – the county can issue tickets or warnings.
The multi-level process currently in place and used by county health officials to enforce the ordinance may be reconsidered.
