The photos, all taken from space, capture every facet of the beauty and diversity of the planet.
Carlowicz said, "The truth about our planet is as convincing as any fiction.

NASA's Earth is divided into four sections: Atmosphere, Water, Earth and Ice and Snow.
Each section focuses on a different part of the planet and reveals almost abstract portraits of the natural process of the Earth.
On page 57, for example, is a strange red-orange-purple melting pot that swirls like a lava lamp-an image of the Gulf Stream off the Florida coast in the United States.
NASA wrote: "This image shows a small portion of the Gulf Stream off South Carolina as it appears in the infrared data collected by the Landsat 8 satellite in April 2013.
"The colors represent the energy – the heat – emitted by the water, with colder temperatures in purple and the warmest water almost white.
"Note that the Gulf Stream is not a uniform strip, but rather finer streams and pockets of warmer, cooler water."

The incredible NASA book was co-written by Michael Carlowicz, Kathy Carroll, Lawrence Friedl, Stephen Schaeberle and Kevin Ward.
