The researchers behind the study published in the journal Nutritional neuroscience evaluated the effects of coffee on the brain in more than 17,700 participants aged 37 to 73.

They found that participants who consumed more than six cups of coffee per day had a 53% increased risk of dementia and a smaller total brain volume than those who consumed one to two cups per day.
