Chicago hotel workers now have "panic buttons" to ask for help if needed.
An order that took effect this week requires hotels to provide buttons. They aim to protect maintenance staff and others who work alone in chambers against sexual harassment and other crimes.

A 500-worker survey conducted by Unite Here Local 1 found 58 percent reported that they experienced at least one incident of sexual harassment by the guests. The most common was the guests who answered naked at their door

The buttons trigger a message on the phone of the supervisor, the manager and the employee's human resources department and indicate the employee's name and address.
