The world's largest group of public broadcasters says that Nauru's ban on journalists from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation participating in the Pacific Islands Forum summit is completely unacceptable.
Pacific President Paul Thompson, who is also chief executive of RNZ, said the ban was a shameless attempt to muzzle these journalists.
The Nauru government issued the ban Earlier this week, accusing the ABC of false reporting.
Thompson said the ban was a very disturbing development, particularly because of the fact that the Pacific Forum is a regional body. We will send a reporter to cover the Forum and we will put all our journalism, our hard-hitting journalism, at the disposal of our colleagues at the ABC.
