Explorers have discovered the wreck of a Russian Imperial Navy ship that sank 113 years ago and that could hold $ 130 billion worth of gold bullion and coins, according to news articles.
The stern of Dmitry Donskoi was discovered off Ulleungdo Island in South Korea. Severely damaged as a result of an attack by Japanese warships during the Russo-Japanese War, Dmitry Donskoy was scuttled in the Sea of Japan on May 29, 1905.
The Korea Times reports that the firm South Korean shipwreck for years, used two manned submarines to spot the ship on Saturday.

Rumors of a gold treasure on Dmitry Donskoy swirled for decades, although the possibility of a sunken treasure was also considered with skepticism. According to the New York Times, a historian told Bloomberg in 2000 that it would have been safer to send gold to the Russian port of Vladivostok by rail rather than by ship.
In his statement, Shinil Group said that found a large amount of iron boxes in the stern of the ship, and "will take steps to preserve them." The contents of the boxes have not been revealed.
