Few murders are as insane and brutal as Sandeep Dhiman's

His goal was as simple as dumb . She would befriending men on the Tinder dating app, would arrange to meet them, then tell her friend Shaun Karauria that the man had molested her and that she would ask 17-year-old Karauria to "crush her", stab her and leave him
She called Karauria her "cousin". The nature of their relationship is unknown. They only got to know each other recently, but she clearly had it on a string.
Dhiman was employed by Chorus and lived in Napier for about seven months before his death. He came to New Zealand to pursue his studies and his jobs
At one point Lewis and he were "twinned" with Tinder and they met on several occasions

In the afternoon of December 16, Dhiman purchased a new Samsung cell phone to Lewis. They took selfies together, she made signs with her fingers and pricked her tongue.
A few hours later, after dropping his house, Lewis used the phone to contact another Indian on Tinder. Upon discovering that he was driving a Subaru Legacy, she arranged for him to take her, a friend, and Karauria for a walk that night.
She spent the next days bringing Dhiman and the other man to bring her back with her friends between Napier, Hastings and Flaxmere, where she lived.
At some point this weekend, according to the police summary, she confided to a friend that she and Karauria had the intention of "taking an Indian to drive him." The weekend of December 23, 2017.
For unknown reasons, Lewis postponed the date to December 17. In the early hours of the day, she began a long conversation with the other man. Later in the morning, she told Karauria that she would take the car from the man.
But the man realized that she was only interested in his car and he refused to take it. An hour later, she turned to Dhiman, who agreed to take her with a friend for a ride that afternoon

Karauria, unaware that Lewis had abandoned the other man and moved on to Dhiman, Lewis sent a message to Lewis asking him to pick up the car while Lewis distracted him. She said, "If you want."

After Lewis' conviction Dhima Dheeraj's older brother narrated Stuff that the family was stunned and disappointed by the sentences passed on his killers
His older brother Dheeraj, who had fled to New Zealand for Celebrating Dhiman's birthday Police informing him of his brother's death, said it was hard to understand how Lewis and Karauria's sentences could be so light given the brutal nature of their crime.
"They are 17 years old now. They will be out in 11 and 12 years old, while they're just 29 and older than able to commit the same brutal things, "said Dheeraj.
