A Perth woman miraculously woke up from a coma a month after contracting what she thought was a cold.

Renee Power, 21, was nicknamed "Sleeping Beauty" because no one knew if she would wake up or not after developing the deadly encephalitis of the virus, 7 News.

Before losing consciousness, however, Ms. Power thought that she was simply suffering from a cold – but the truth was that encephalitis had launched an attack on her brain.

Her symptoms temporarily stopped her breathing and almost killed her, but defying any chance, Ms. Power regained consciousness and now learns to walk.

"[I’m] I was lucky, I was lucky to be even awake," she told 7 News.

His mother described the situation as heartbreaking

"It was as if your heart were torn … and would he ever wake up?" His mother said about the situation.

The Hospital staff and his family kept a diary last month, which Ms. Power has now been commissioned to read.

"It was upsetting because I felt really sorry for submitting them to all that, but they said I could not do anything about it, it was out of my power, "she said.] [ad_2]
