Suspect in detention after shooting, hostage situation at the Los Angeles grocery store

The suspect in the Trader Joe's hostage situation is now in custody, police said.

Police believe that a man involved in a confrontation with officers at a Los Angeles supermarket shot his grandmother and his girlfriend. Said Mike Lopez, a police spokesman, who said the man had fled the scene after filming Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles.

He says the officers tried to shoot at the man and were pursued. Lopez says that the suspect fired several times at the police during the pursuit, but no officer was beaten.

At least one officer fought back.

Lopez says that the man crashed in front of a Trader Joe supermarket in Silver Lake.

A woman allegedly shot was dragged away from the Entry while she was unconscious. The LAPD then stated that the suspect was in detention, CNN reported.

CBS reported that a man had shot his grandmother and girlfriend in South Los Angeles and had subsequently been sued by police. He would have shot at agents.

He crashed into his vehicle, went out and ran into the store, told LNC LAPD agent Mike Lopez

The video of a helicopter shows armed police wearing shields on the outside of the store and a man coming out with his hands up.

The video also shows police carrying a person who appears to be injured, as well as people I come down from a window and I go down a ladder.

Devin Field, a writer for Jimmy Kimmel Live! was entering the store when the shooter crashed his car in front of the Trader Joe's entrance. Field tweeted that he was hiding behind a retaining wall with three policemen while the suspect was shooting at the police.

Field spoke with employees who were able to escape the store and said that the shooter had entered the store. He moved hostages to the back of the store and asked to speak to a negotiator. An employee, a former sailor, helped people sneak up.

Margaret Stewart, spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, told CNN that a 20-year-old patient had been rushed to hospital under good conditions. She was removed from a vehicle and not from the inside of the store

"We are ready to support ourselves, but we have no confirmation of the number of patients in the interior Added Stewart. the man can detain up to 30 people hostage inside the store. Firefighters are preparing to treat several patients, but say that they still do not know how much they have.
