Dehradun: The Tibetan community in the Doon Valley held a "Feed the Hungry" program on Thursday as part of the Dalai Lama's 83rd anniversary celebrations on July 6th. Tibetans in the city celebrate a series of programs that are held to mark the occasion.

On the occasion of the Dalai Lama's birthday on Friday, the Tibetan community will begin the day with prayers at 6:30 am, followed by an official program at 8:30 am at Tibetan Community Hall, Sahastradhara Road. At 11:00, cultural programs, music and dance performances will be organized, attended by various Tibetan schools as well as members of youth and women's associations.

Celebrations will continue with a "cake cutting ceremony" and other cultural performances, including the representation of colorful Tibetan dances at Jakhan's Pacific Mall.
