Raleigh, North Carolina – More people in North Carolina are receiving COVID-19 vaccines as the state continues to green light more suppliers to meet increased demand. In addition, the state is seeing a sharp increase in the doses shipped here.
Some figures from the state vaccine allocation report:
- North Carolina is seeing a 23% increase in new first doses assigned by the federal government.
- New data from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services shows that 2.3 million people have received the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine through registered providers in the state.
Coronavirus Vaccinations in North Carolina
- Last week, the state received 162,875 new first doses.
- Wake County has grown from 11 to 27 vaccine suppliers.
- County Durham has grown from 6 to 11 vaccine suppliers.
- For the next three weeks (the weeks of February 22, March 3, and March 10), the state expects to receive 200,120 new first doses from the federal government.
Many counties have seen high participation in vaccination clinics held in schools and event centers. Earlier this month, a drive-through COVID-19 vaccination clinic at West Johnston High School reached capacity just 10 minutes after it opened.
Due to bad weather last week, many providers will receive last week’s allowances in addition to their allowance for that week between February 22 and February 24.
