Gaylon Lecoy Holmes: 1955 – 2021
Naturalist, educator, lifelong learner and lover of life, Gaylon Holmes launched his kayak from the last launch on August 16.
He was a great warrior who loved everything alive, especially dogs, reptiles and dragonflies.

He built a kayak from wooden slats and shot down a buffalo with a handgun.
He never hesitated to take on a challenge and was learning to master everything that interested him. He was “always there” whenever someone else needed help.
He read tons of books and slaughtered many prairie dogs.
He could sing and play music; he could heal a sick snake; he could fix almost anything; he was an exceptional canoe and kayak paddler; he was an exceptional photographer; he knew how to write poems; he loved the outdoors and loved camping; he loved classical music and live theater; he could catch a fish faster than anyone in the lake; he had climbed mountains and plunged into the sea.
He served his country in Viet Nam in the special forces, he served his county as deputy sheriff.
Gaylon was originally from Salt Lake City. He is survived by his loving partner of 22 years, Cindy Unger; his mother Maurine Hoffman of Casper and his brother Bret Houskeeper of Salt Lake.

Clarice (Carey) Ann Manning: September 24, 1946 ~ August 31, 2021 (74 years old)
Mom left her home in Natrona, Wyoming on the wings of an angel to be with the Good Lord on August 31, 2021. Clarice was born on September 24, 1946 to her parents Thomas Manning, Sr. and Clarice Lyle Manning (Sankey) on the Manning Ranch in Natrona, Wyoming.
She attended Natrona Elementary School, Dean Morgan Junior High, where she was part of the track team, where, in her words, “She ran like a deer”. She also did barrel races with her horse, Blaze.
Clarice graduated from Natrona County High School in 1964. After graduation, she attended Casper College and obtained her LPN license. She worked at Wyoming Medical Center for a few years. She then met her husband Jerry Clark and got married in June 1966. They lived in Casper for a short time and then moved to Houston, Texas. Clarice continued to work as a nurse at the Harris County Nursing Home.
On May 4, 1972, she had her first child, Sheila Rae Romey (Clark) in Houston, Texas. On October 10, 1974, she had her second child, Lyle James Clark in Casper, Wyoming.
In 1976, she returned to Natrona, Wyoming. In 1978, she bought the Natrona store and station which she owned and operated until 1989. She went to work in Casper, Wyoming, running her own cleaning business and taking care of anyone who had it. need. She did this for over 20 years, then went to work as a maintenance staff at Ghost Town Fuel Stop for a few years. She then returned to housekeeping and care until February 2014, and then retired.
Clarice was an extremely hard worker, she put all her heart and soul into her family and into everything she did. She cared about so many people and loved everyone.
She was an amazing wife, daughter, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Clarice is predeceased by her father and mother, sister Marguerite Scovill, half-brother Ernest Manning, brothers; Thomas Manning, Jr., Percy Manning, Carroll Manning, and Charles Manning. Nephews; Brian Manning, Kelly and Larry Batchelor, Roy and Troy Manning and a grandson, Thomas Mills, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She leaves behind her uncle, Bruce White; Sister, Muriel May Biles; brother, John Neil Manning; daughter, Sheila Rae (William) Romey; Son, Lyle James Clark. Small children; Matthew Clark, Trevor and Tristan Meyers, Taya Gallaga, Rachel Brenden, Sadie Roylance, McKala and Brandi Romey; Great grandchildren; Zyren & Zealen Meyers, Ezra Durgin Meyers, Kiara Gallaga, Dylan and Laura Brenden, Daveigh, Jerzi and Lakota Roylance, Christopher Schott and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no service at the request of Clarice. The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.

Cheryl Anne Sheldon Fisher: August 28, 1958 ~ September 1, 2021 (63 years old)
Cheryl Anne Sheldon / Fisher was born August 28, 1958 to Patricia Black and Harry Sheldon.
She passed away suddenly on September 1, 2021.
She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Patricia, brother Wayne Sheldon, her late husband Michael Fisher and granddaughter Baylee Rager.
She is survived by longtime boyfriend Marty Russell, her 4 children Dustan Sheldon (Joleen) Grady Fisher, Athena (David Rager Sr)
Bre (Blake Stulc) 4 sisters Deb Wolcott, Francine Sheldon, Rebecca (Andrew Abramo) Misty (Tony Smotherman) 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Cheryl loved life, she had many hobbies and interests. Some of them include Rock Hounding, Beading, Painting, Fairies, Going for Drives, and Spending Time with Family and Friends.
She loved photography and taking pictures. Cheryl loved all kinds of music and one of her favorite songs was “Africa”. One of his favorite drinks was Jonny Walker. And one of his favorite sayings was “See you next Tuesday, Franny”. She was quite the actress.
She loved her family. She always lit a room with her laughs and jokes. Cheryl always had a story to tell, memories to relive, and new friends to meet.
Even though her passing leaves a void in our lives, the warmth of her memories that she created for all of us will forever remain with each of us.
Now that we know that she is able to rest, She is ascending to the place that is best, She has a friend in Jesus, She is ascending to the Spirit in Heaven.
The family suggests that the keepsakes be directed to a charity chosen by the donors.
The arrangements are entrusted to the Outarde and Jacoby Funeral Home.
Memorial services will take place at a later date.
Laird D. Johnson: July 20, 1938 ~ September 2, 2021 (83 years old)
Larid D. Johnson was born at his home on July 20, 1938 in Maeser, Utah. The second child of three and only son of Verdin R. Johnson and Marie McConkie Johnson. He was reunited with his wife on September 2, 2021, at home, on their 61st wedding anniversary.
Larid grew up in the Unitah basin. His parents instilled in him a confidence that defied conventional boundaries. At the age of eight, when most children still need a nightlight, Larid was driving his father’s truck on his own up Diamond Mountain, camping, fishing and hunting. He graduated from Unitah High School in 1957.
He married his “Strawberry Queen” Judith LaRay Robinson on September 2, 1960 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. From this union are born six children. Her children were like arrows in her quiver. He would refer to Psalm 127: 5: “Happy is the man whose quiver is full of it…” He was sealed for time and eternity to his wife and children in the Salt Lake City temple on the 1st. August 1974.
He graduated from Utah State University in 1963 with a degree in wildlife biology and began his career in predator control for the Federal Agency of the Department of Fish and Wildlife. In 1966, he moved his young family to Lusk, Wyoming and went from a “student” to a regional supervisor in much of eastern Wyoming. The title never really mattered to him. He identified himself with being a trapper, and when his daughters started dating, a professional killer. He retired in 1995.
Larid served his county in the Army Reserves as a medic from 1961 to 1966.
Larid was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His faith was the stick he was clinging to. He served his Lord in many leadership positions. He persevered to complete the remodeling of a church and the new construction, in 2006, of the existing chapel in Lusk.
He loved his family, the Denver Broncos, blackjack and cake, not necessarily in that order.
Larid was predeceased by his wife, parents, grandparents, sister Vondalee Bingham and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his six children, Layne Johnson, Lori (Bruce) Himes, Andy (Janice) Johnson, Shawn (Kara) Johnson, Mindi (Keith) Iantorno and Kari (Jeff) Williams. Ten grandsons, Jared (Tanya), Stephen, Aaron (Marlee) and Taylor (Caitlin) Hespe, Zachary, Elijah and Lincoln Johnson, Noah, Jakob and Leo Williams. Eight granddaughters, Allison (AJ) Stewart, Whitney, Jaclyn (Charlie) Rivera, Delaney, Addison and McKinley Johnson, Zarah Iantorno and Charlotte Williams, three great-grandsons, Ryker, Kellan and Dylan Hespe and four great-granddaughters -daughters, Madison, Ellee, Kennedy and Hollyn Hespe, sister, Maureen (Glade) Berry, brother-in-law Sam (Lori) Robinson, sister-in-law Karen Lewis and many nieces and nephews.
