Hollywood director Oliver Stone claimed in an interview published Tuesday that he had recently taken Sputnik V, a Russian vaccine candidate, President Vladimir Putin had exceeded the medical protocol to be approved in August.
Stone said in an interview with The Associated Press that he was “hopeful” it will work after hearing “good things” about its effectiveness.
Sputnik V is said to be widely distributed in Russia, and several Latin American countries have agreed to purchase doses, although the vaccine has never gone through phase III clinical trials. Sputnik V is currently in competition with a vaccine approved by the American company Pfizer in tandem with the German pharmaceutical company BioNTech, several Chinese candidate vaccines and dozens more in development around the world.

The Oscar-winning director’s admission comes less than two weeks after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the government would start rolling out massive injections of doctors and teachers, despite skepticism from international health experts about its safety and its effectiveness.
According to the National Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Gamaleya in Moscow, the Sputnik V vaccine candidate has an efficacy rate of 94%, proving that it is an “effective solution to stop the spread of the disease. ‘coronavirus infection’.
