HARRISBURG, Pa .– The Department of Health has confirmed that at midnight on February 13 there were 4,088 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 892,344 statewide.
Currently, 2,548 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, officials say.
Of that number, 496 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19.
However, hospitalizations for coronavirus in Pennsylvania have fallen by more than half since their peak in December.
Officials say there are currently 2,600 people hospitalized with the virus.
Hospitalizations peaked at over 6,000 at the end of December.
Despite the sharp drop, hospitalizations remain high. The number of coronavirus patients currently being treated in hospitals is at the same level as the first peak of the pandemic last spring.
The statewide positivity percentage for the week of February 5 to February 11 was 8.0%.
The most accurate daily data is available on the website, with archived data also available.
Officials said as of 11:59 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 113 new deaths were identified by the Pennsylvania Death Registry, reported for a total of 23,072 deaths attributed to COVID-19. County-specific information and a statewide map are available on the COVID-19 Data Dashboard.
Distribution of COVID-19 vaccine
Hospitals in Pennsylvania began receiving shipments of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine the week of December 14 and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine the week of December 21.
Officials note that this also includes the administration of vaccines by CVS under the Federal Pharmacy Partnership.
The vaccination numbers for Pennsylvania do not include Philadelphia, which is its own jurisdiction, or federal facilities, which work directly with the federal government.
This week, a total of 318,450 doses will have been allocated until February 13:
- 175 175 first doses will have been allocated this week.
- 143,275 second doses will have been allocated this week.
To date, of the 2,439,550 doses allocated up to February 13, 1,588,761 doses have been administered in total up to February 12:
- First doses, 85% (1,210,194 administered out of 1,426,600 assigned)
- Second doses, 37 percent (378,567 administered out of 1012,950 assigned)
Officials say there are 103,737 people who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 637 people who have a positive serologic test and symptoms of COVID-19 or high-risk exposure.
To date, 3,757,904 people have tested negative.
In licensed nursing and personal care homes, there are 65,387 cases of COVID-19 and 12,680 cases among employees, for a total of 78,067 in 1,555 separate facilities across 67 counties.
Of the total number of deaths reported to PA-NEDSS, 12,000 have occurred among residents of nursing or personal care facilities.
Officials note that the number of deaths reported to NEDSS is not exactly the same as COVID-19-related deaths reported by the death registry.
The number of deaths among residents and employees of nursing and personal care homes is taken from PA-NEDSS death data, as this information is not available in the death registry data.
About 24,157 of the total cases involve health workers.
The Wolf administration issued an order for the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday to help speed up the process.
Officials say although the supply of vaccines from the federal government remains limited, the Department of Health is working to ensure that the vaccine is delivered in an ethical, fair and efficient manner.
