Jaiden Rogers, a 12-year-old boy from the state of Colorado (United States), suffers from a rare disease that turns her skin into "stone".
As reported by Yahoo News, the child was diagnosed with "rigid skin syndrome" – also known as congenital facial dystrophy – a connective tissue disorder that makes the skin hard as a stone . Of this rapidly progressing disease, there have been only 41 cases in the world since its discovery in the 1970s, including that of this child.
Parents Jaiden's adoptive parents began to experience symptoms six years ago when they spotted "a small lump on her right thigh just under the skin." The piece continued to grow quickly and "once the hard calcifications invaded the joint, Jaiden began to lose mobility."
"Your skin is basically like stone" the ceramic top of a kitchen table, "said his mother Natalie to the media. The child could be totally immobilized or even die if the disease is not cured.
Jaiden's parents can not bear the extreme costs that a special treatment of one year in Europe requires, so they launched a fundraising campaign on the Go Fund Me platform. [19659006] (function (d, s, id) {
