NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WKRN) – A huge amount of rain is expected in the middle of the week, when sudden floods could threaten Tennessee and southern Kentucky.

While Monday and Tuesday morning will remain calm, there will be two strong gusts of rain. The first being Tuesday night if Wednesday night. The second the weekend to come.

A softer air running on Tuesday morning, so does a rain train. A light to moderate rain starts on Tuesday around noon and stops only Wednesday night. No flooding is expected Tuesday afternoon, but once a larger group swept the area on Wednesday morning, the threat of flooding increases.

From Wednesday morning to evening, precipitation could reach 2 inches per hour in several communities. Once the main line is finished Wednesday evening, there will be only 2 to 4 inches of rain in most of the area. Some places may be more than 5 inches.

Streams and swollen streams will become flood areas. The flooding of the river is also possible. Security should be a top priority. If you encounter a place where water is flowing quickly, avoid it. Any road completely submerged in water should be avoided. You never know how deep the water really is.

Several showers could be around Thursday and Friday, but another series of intense rainfall is possible over the weekend. At this point, the total precipitation accumulated during the week, including the potential weekend storm, could range from 4 to 6 inches or more.
