74% of Illinois adults have received at least one dose of vaccine and over 58% are fully immunized
SPRING FIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today reported 11,682 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 39 additional deaths since the Friday 23 report July 2021. More than 74% of adults in Illinois have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and more than 58% of adults in Illinois are fully vaccinated, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Currently, the IDPH reports a total of 1,419,611 cases, including 23,440 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases varies from less than a year to over 100 years. As of the report on Friday, July 23, 2021, labs have reported 289,433 specimens for a total of 26,823,562. Last night, 903 people in Illinois were reportedly hospitalized with COVID-19. Of these, 167 patients were in intensive care and 62 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
COVID-19 cases in Illinois are up 46% from last week and hospitalizations are up 35%, including a 24% increase in intensive care admissions and a 41% increase in people with COVID-19 on respirators.
