You never really know when Rick and morty will be coming back from a hiatus for a new season, so hey, just so you know: Rick and morty comes back from a break for a new season. Adult Swim announced on Tuesday that Season 5 of the animated comedy by Dam Harmon and Justin Roiland will debut on June 20.
Kicking off a new season will also spawn “Rick and Morty Day,” which promises “glimpses, behind-the-scenes footage and special surprises on TV, digital and social media.”
While there are lingering plots that the series has yet to conclude, the Rick and morty The Season 5 trailer mostly sticks to what each bundle R&M promising episodes: intergalactic, multiversal madness. In the brief preview for the new season, we see everything from Rick’s version of Voltron to some sort of BDSM planet that involves the marlin as well. Extremely Rick and morty.
In 2018, Adult Swim ordered 70 episodes of Rick and morty, a number that would likely take the animated series to 10 seasons. It’s a precious commodity for the network, and now a precious commodity for WarnerMedia as a whole – the trailer reminds fans that all four seasons of the show are currently airing on HBO Max. (Polygon has reached out to Adult Swim to clarify if the new episodes will air there after their TV debut.)
