Here is today’s COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data through April 29.

Progress of vaccination:

Status measurements:

  • The adjusted case rate calculated by the state of San Diego County is currently 6.2 cases per 100,000 population.
  • The percentage of positivity of the test is 2.3%.
  • The measure of health equity is 3.0%.
  • The CDPH assesses counties on a weekly basis. The next report is scheduled for Tuesday May 4.

Community-based epidemics:

  • Six new community outbreaks were confirmed on April 29: three at college / university facilities, one at a restaurant / bar, one at a retail, and one at a TK-12e elementary school framework.
  • In the past seven days (April 23 to April 29), 24 community outbreaks have been confirmed.
  • The outbreak of outbreaks in the community is seven days or more in seven days.

Trial:

  • 16,897 tests were reported to the county on April 29 and the percentage of new positive cases was 1%.
  • The 14-day moving average percentage of positive cases is 1.5%. The target is less than 8.0%.
  • The daily 7-day test average is 13,970.

Cases, hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care:

  • 196 cases of COVID-19 were reported to the county on April 29. The region’s total is now 276,156.
  • 15,231 or 5.5% of all cases required hospitalization.
  • 1,683 or 0.6% of all cases and 11% of hospitalized cases required admission to an intensive care unit.

Deaths:

  • Two new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on April 29. The region’s total is 3,702.
  • A woman in her 20s died on April 20 and a man in his 60s died on April 28. Both had underlying health issues.
