These ancient beasts are said to have feasted on whales, large fish and other sharks, using their jagged teeth to shred their hapless victims.
Their meals are said to have consisted of animals ranging from dolphins to humpback whales.
Emma Bernard from the Natural History Museum explained, “If you are that big you have to eat a lot of food, so big prey is needed.”
Although scientists were unable to pinpoint when exactly the shark attack occurred, it is believed to have taken place along the coast of present-day North Carolina.
According to Dr. Godfrey, these coastal waters were relatively shallow and teeming with marine life.
