SLO County Reports 42 New Cases of COVID-19

San Luis Obispo County public health officials reported 42 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total to 20,475 confirmed cases as of March 30.

Health officials say four people are currently hospitalized. Another 230 are recovering at home and officials say 19,981 people have recovered.

Fourteen of the 38 licensed and staffed intensive care beds in the county are currently occupied. None are taken by COVID-19 patients, but an SLO County resident is in an intensive care unit outside the county.

San Luis Obispo County has had 255 deaths attributed to the virus.

  • Paso Robles – 4,036
  • San Luis Obispo – 3,957
  • California Men’s Colony (inmates) – 2384
  • Atascadero – 1,947
  • Nipomo – 1,544
  • Arroyo Grande – 1,438
  • Grover Beach – 858
  • Ocean – 689
  • Templeton – 608
  • San Miguel – 518
  • Bears – 476
  • Morro Bay – 418
  • Cal Poly (campus residents) – 373
  • Pismo Beach – 334
  • Atascadero State Hospital (patients) – 206
  • Cambria – 176
  • Shandon – 139
  • Saint Margaret – 139
  • Creston – 85
  • Cayucos – 69
  • Avila Beach – 30
  • San Simeon – 21
  • Bradley – 7

The locations of an additional 12 cases are under investigation, and 11 more are listed as “other”, which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.

Community COVID-19 testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach, and Nipomo.

VACCINATIONS

San Luis Obispo County has opened vaccine eligibility to the following groups:

  • Residents aged 50 and over
  • High risk residents due to certain serious medical conditions or disabilities
  • Education and child care workers
  • Emergency service workers
  • Food and agriculture workers
  • Public transport workers
  • Janitorial service workers
  • Health workers and community health workers
  • Residents and staff of long-term care facilities
  • Residents who live or work in a homeless shelter or behavioral health facility
  • Judicial system and jurors
