The launch of a Falcon 9 rocket by SpaceX is scheduled for Wednesday morning at Vandenberg Air Base, according to the 30th Facebook page of the space wing.

Falcon 9 will carry the RADARSAT Constellation Mission, Space Shuttle, Launch 4. Colonel Bob Reeves, Deputy Commander of 30 Space Wing, commands the launch.

The launch window should open at 7:17 am on Wednesday, June 12th.

Base officials issued an update on weather conditions in the region at the scheduled launch time. Their report indicates that visibility will be three to four miles with fragmented fog. The temperature should be between 52 and 57 degrees Fahrenheit.

A public viewing area will be open to the public at Hawk's Nest on Azalea Lane, just off Highway 1. The doors will open at 6:00 am for visitors.

The 30th Space Wing would like to remind the public that drinking, smoking and making fire or barbecuing is prohibited at Hawk's Nest.

Surrounding counties, including Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura, could hear at least one resounding sound at launch.

Sonic booms are the sounds emitted when a plane or vehicle is moving faster than the speed of sound, according to a press release previously sent by the base.

RADARSAT is a Canadian satellite Earth observation remote sensing supervised by the Canadian Space Agency.
