US Surgeon General Jerome Adams said the federal government hopes to quickly review and approve requests from two drugmakers for emergency approval of their Covid-19 vaccines.

Pfizer Inc. is expected to submit an emergency use authorization application on December 10 for the vaccine it developed with BioNTech in Germany, followed by Moderna on December 18, Adams said.

“From a federal perspective, we’ve promised everything and put everything in place so that we can quickly review these EUAs and hopefully start sending out vaccines within 24-48 hours,” Adams said. on “Fox News Sunday”.

Adams said he expects 40 million doses of the vaccine to be produced by the end of the year and most Americans to have access to a vaccine by the start of the second quarter of 2021.

On ABC’s “This Week” program, Anthony Fauci, an American infectious disease specialist, said the vaccines would likely be rolled out between mid to late December.
