The Foundation for Agricultural Research, together with Arla, decided to fund research focused on sustainable agriculture.
The UN 2030 Agenda sets goals for food security and sustainable agriculture. In this context, Arla and the Foundation for Agricultural Research will fund five research projects.
"We are testing something new for us when we allow different organizations to merge to solve these important issues, and I am convinced that this creates the conditions for Sweden to continue to be at the forefront of research. about sustainable food production, "said Kjell Malmlöf, director of research for agricultural research.
Increase knowledge
The research projects all aim to develop competitive and sustainable milk production by increasing knowledge about how dairy products contribute to a balanced and nutritious diet. Researchers from different projects are also joining forces to strengthen cooperation.
– Funding from the Research Foundation will be useful to the sector. With this initiative, we hope to strengthen the important dialogue between producer and consumer on our food in a broader perspective, said CEO Christian Nyrén.
The projects that are part of the collaboration are:
- Pernilla Tidåker, SLU – Multifunctional dairy farm: indicators and tools for ecosystem services and biodiversity
- Ulf Sonesson, RISE – Nutrition and Health Indicators in Food Lifecycle Analysis
- Christel Cederberg, Chalmers – Measuring and Evaluating the Environmental Impact of Food
- Pekka Huhtanen, SLU – Increasing the sustainability of milk production through improved feed efficiency
- Mikaela Lindberg, SLU – Management measures to increase efficiency through increased longevity of milk slices
