Ford invests $ 35 billion in self-managed subsidiaries

Now, the automaker announces the launch of the subsidiary Ford Autonomous Vehicles LLC. By 2023, the ticket will plunge 35 billion crowns into its self-propelled vehicles.

In the spring, Ford reported that most of its US model program had been canceled. The company intends to focus on two things: "trucks" and clean electric cars. By 2020, nearly 90% of Ford's portfolio will include pickup trucks, recreational and professional vehicles. Due to declining consumer demand and declining profits, the company will not invest in new generation Ford carriers for North America. The only survivors become Focus and the Mustang sports car.

However, Ford is now out with a massive investment in autonomous vehicles. Biljätten launches Ford Autonomous Vehicles LLC – and until 2023, it plans to invest 35 billion SEK in the new subsidiary. Ford says it will also focus on "an in-depth product catalog".

– Ford has made great strides in the autonomous value chain – from technology development to innovative business models and user experience. Now is the time to consolidate our stand-alone platform into a team that will position itself for future business opportunities, "said Jim Hackett, CEO of Ford Motor Company, in a statement posted on the website.

The CEO of the new company becomes Sherif Marakby, currently vice president of Ford. On his shoulders, the responsibility to fulfill Ford's promise of a large-scale launch of self-propelled cars is up until 2021.
