From the outside, the room does not look like much in the world. It is more simply described as a concrete bunker, with an anonymous entry behind a portal. But it's here, in a building next to Terminal 2, that the royal family, ambassadors and many celebrities will register when they travel to Stockholm Arlanda.
The Arlanda VIP service has existed since the 80s. In recent years, the interest has increased and the company now counts about 15,000 travelers a year. service. To meet the growing demand, move the existing Terminal 5 premises to a 2,000 square meter building located on the other side of the airport, twice the size of the previous one.

New VIP lounge on Arlanda
The lobby is reminiscent of an easy-to-talk bar – hard to find if you do not know where to go. Not before you pass the front door, you will notice that it is a building beyond the usual. Here, inside the locked door, a red carpet is unrolled leading to another locked door. VIP guests are already taken care of at the door by a coordinator and accompanied by the doors of a small security check. As a VIP, you do not have to queue, check in or drag your bags yourself, but the security is the same as in the terminals.

Since the house must be discreet and private, all windows are located in or near the ceiling. A challenge, but also a unique opportunity, according to Mark Humphreys of Tengbom Architects.
– The design of the house is inspired by Swedish culture and landscape. It's a tough, protective concrete shell that we've softened with wood and leather on the inside, he says.

The nine rooms feature wooden walls and Nordic furniture. The private bathrooms with showers, provided in all rooms, are embellished with a single material on the walls and floor to suit the rest of the house.
"It will be combined with Swedish relaxation, reflection and luxury," says Mark Humphreys.
Champagne, soft drinks, snacks and fruit are included in the service. For those who want to eat more, Pontus food in flight is available at an additional cost.
price: SEK 3 650 for a passenger. 950 SEK per additional passenger. Children 2-12 years: 500 SEK. All prices are exclusive of VAT.
hours: Every day at 07-22. If you wish to use the VIP service outside opening hours, you will receive an extra charge of 1900 SEK.
Luggage, travel documents and check-in are managed by a coordinator.
The Vip entry has a separate security check.
Alcoholic beverages, champagne, beer, wine, coffee, tea, fruit and snacks as well as wifi are included in the price. Pontus food can be ordered as an option.
The VIP service can be used for departures and arrivals.
The building has nine rooms of different sizes, as well as a larger area that can accommodate up to 80 people, which can be used for example by sports teams.
Vip room for the royal family
Although the whole building is only for the customers, there is a department – and especially a room – which is a little more vip than the others. The nine rooms are divided into two departments and are called inside for VIP and zip.
Vip has five rooms and is for business customers. Zip has four rooms and is mainly intended for the royal family, main guests and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is in the VIP section that the most special piece is: Kungavipen, the room reserved for all members of the royal family. The room has two entrances and there are two sofas, a long table, a TV, newspapers and Kerstin Florian's products in the bathroom.

The Royal Chamber is often booked considering the size of the family in recent years, but Susanne Strand, VIP Service Manager, indicates that other guests may also have the chance to be booked in this room, if any .
"It's a part of what's so much fun here. It's a charming mix of young and old, royalty, ambassadors, bridesmaids, businessmen, DJs, bloggers and sports teams. And everyone has the same service, "says Susanne Strand.

Driving a car on the plane

"When we go as a couple, a member of staff usually acts as a witness.At one point, a coordinator shouted that the time had come to testify.A guest, a famous actor, hears that and decides to intervene. The groom immediately recognized him, but the bride did not see who it was before the end of her marriage and returned, it became a wonderful memory for her life when she realized who had been their witness.
