A Swedish initiative of the US Amazon e-commerce platform is expected to enter the pot for Swedish traders. There is yet another sign that a large-scale establishment can be close.
– They contacted us and we talked about the deliveries, but they did not reveal when they came to Sweden. We have already said that we believe that they will be in 2018 and I am still sure that will happen, says Postnord Communications Manager, Thomas Backteman, at Breakit.
It was then that Amazon acquired the Swedish domain amazon.se and decided to place three major data centers in the central parts of Sweden because the speculations on an establishment in Sweden was taking place seriously. The selected locations for the data halls – Eskilstuna, Västerås and Katrineholm – have been considered as geographical to serve as e-commerce storage.
In addition, Amazon has recently submitted a request to the Financial Supervisory Authority to provide payment services. The company has also opened an office in the center of Stockholm. Discussions with Postnord should not concern a large amount of packages.
– According to the request we received, they would not belong to one of our largest customers at first, but we expect volumes to increase, says Thomas Backteman in Breakit.
