The US company Snapchat was the first on the market with the feature "stories" and it quickly became very popular. However, since Instagram started with the same concept, Snapchat has been really outdated, the "instastories" are now used twice as much, reports CNN.

In 2016, Instagram launched its Instastories feature, often seen as a simple attempt to copy Snapchats already existing feature.

This feature allows a user to download movie sequences and images visible to his friends and the public for 24 hours before they disappear. The user can also choose from different filters that change faces in the image, or add different symbols or the location where you are, for example.

According to new statistics presented Thursday by Instagram on Facebook, "instastories" are used by more than 400 million people a day, a figure that has almost doubled compared to last year, writes CNN.

The numbers also show that they have sprung from the competitor Snapchat. Their more or less identical function has nearly 200 million active users each day. So despite the fact that Instagram was two on the ball, it did not take long before passing the competitor. After eight months, Instagram matched the number of Snapchat users regarding the "stories" feature

Instagram Mobile App

One billion people use Instagram at least once a month. The internet giant Facebook bought the app for $ 1 billion in 2012. Bloomberg Intelligence writes that if Instagram was a business, it was worth more than a hundred times more, according to a calculation that they did, this was published earlier this week.
