Several very different articles have been nominated for this year's Urban Construction Award. All of a residential area and renovated buildings in a pleasant way, to do the exercise slung and to eat in the open air.

– This reflects the extent of what can be included in the concept of urban construction and the fact that we all add different values to what enriches a city. The two candidates for this year's Karlshamn Urban Construction Award represent completely different expressions and functions. They are both winning winners, no matter who wins the prize, "said Lena Jarl-Hellgren, planning architect for Karlshamn Municipality.

The prize aims to highlight and encourage good architecture and urban construction. The jury has now named the finalists described as two strong candidates who creatively embrace a rural environment and emphasize the importance of investing in good architecture and a living environment, even outside the main city.

"The fact that we receive more qualitative proposals every year is also proof that the Karlshamns Municipality's commitment to this type of award encourages builders, customers and the public to invest in innovative architecture and in the urban construction, as well as to take care of what has already been built, "says Emina Kovacic, architect of the city.

The jury is composed of the following persons:

  • Sven Gustafsson, architect and laureate last year
  • Anna Terning, landscape architect
  • Elisabeth Rydberg, architect
  • Lena Jarl-Hellgren architect planner

"The year's nominees are excellent examples of the award that deserves to be praised: in one case, beautiful land estates have been deliberately incorporated into the current Mörrum." The second candidate is a public building at the time. Interesting architecture, which is another attraction in Eriksberg, says lawyer Sven Gustafsson, architect and winner of last year.

The motivation of the jury for Market apartments, "Fruit Farm" in Mörrum

In an exemplary way, new houses have been created in an attractive place. While taking into account the surrounding landscape and the cultural environment, Fruktgården breathes a modern living environment with its own identity. The scale is pretty and the building has been treated with great care in terms of proportion and detail. Preserving and integrating the older Riksdag management greatly enriches the experience of the region.

The thought that has been put on the design, colors and exterior environment of the retailer helps to create a living environment that exudes quality and dignity. The older trees that create the characters have been preserved and great importance has been attached to the selection of the plant material, which gives a variation and an impression of greenery despite the age of the region. The structure of the area generates and creates new lines of sight, which offer a magnificent view of the landscape and a connection with other Mörrum.

Jury Motivation for Eriksberg Farm Shop and Coffee Shop "Outdoor Eriksberg"

Eriksberg's new entrance, with its faded color and stone roof, leads our thoughts to a Swedish barn, while its exterior recalls a safari course and dreams of an exotic place. The powerful construction volume combined with the traditional materials and the draped facade of the skirt is an interesting composition and demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship.

The building is well adapted to the landscape, where adjacent forest areas help reduce the perceived scale. Thanks to its location and shape, the building is a source of curiosity and interest. An entrance has been transformed into a meeting place accessible to all. The building becomes an asset not only for Eriksberg, but also for Blekinge.
