Prices of villas and condominiums vary considerably between the different municipalities of Västra Götaland. But how does really distinguish land prices in the county and where do you get the most money? A new survey of the Swedish Real Estate Agency shows that you can buy a parcel of 163 square meters in Gothenburg, or 35 times more land space, at a little over an hour from the big city. One million crowns gives you a total of 5,848 square meters in the municipality of Falköping.
The Swedish Property Agency has mapped, based on the Valueguard statistics, the number of square meters of land in Västra Götaland County. The survey is based on last year's price statistics and for one million Swedish kroner, you get on average 483 square meters of land in the county. The best value for money is in Falköping. One million crowns in the municipality will give you a total of 5,848 square meters, while for the same slope, you will receive only 163 square meters in Gothenburg. Trollhättan and Lilla Edet are other affordable municipalities that top the list of places where you get the best value for money. In addition to Gothenburg, land prices in Mölndal and Alingsås and in the popular seaside resort of Tanum are among the most expensive in the county
– Land prices in Västra Götaland are largely controlled by the prices of second homes in each municipality. The fact that there are big differences in the price of land in the county depends on the location and quality, but also the demand. For example, the land supply in the municipality of Gothenburg is extremely limited, which further increases prices, says Peter Jonsson real estate broker at Svensk Fastighetsförmedling in Alingsås.
– There is strong demand for single-family homes in Alingsås. Stadsskogen is a relatively new residential area just two kilometers from the city center, where many new plots and houses have been sold. Our good opportunities for travel to Gothenburg have created a lot of pressure on the real estate and housing market. It takes so long to get to the center of Gothenburg from the outskirts of the city that from Alingsås, says Peter Jonsson real estate agent at Svensk Fastighetsförmedling in Alingsås.
