Uppsala appreciates teams – Voister

– Regarding the digitization of elementary schools, the challenge of the municipality of Uppsala is to arouse interest and curiosity for the possibilities of digitization. We do this with the help of two digital tutors working on a project related to nine schools, which, through the management team, will constitute a resource for educators in their work. Digital tutors support different processes in order for schools to move with time, "says Sara Lundberg, an elementary business development school in the municipality of Uppsala.

Tell us about some current projects.

– Office 365 is new in the municipality of Uppsala and primary school was the first group to start using Teams as a platform for collaboration and communication. We have put a lot of effort into every elementary school, with ongoing training of school leaders and process support in the business.

– Another ongoing project concerns our educational platform. We have Unikum today, but it is actually a documentation process for evaluation and planning. Here we have also launched a series of initiatives based on the question of how to fill the system and how we can work in Uppsala with the evaluation platform.

How do teachers work as a team?

"As this is a new way of working, we have adopted a fairly solid structure with standards that we have developed ourselves for our team work." On the basis of this bar, we try to inspire and show schools what they can do as a team and what channels can be helpful.

– Teams as a cloud collaboration platform must be used with purpose and purpose. Now, the good ideas of the organization, for example, the trainee teacher of a school can exchange with colleagues from other schools. This is exactly what we were hoping for and so far the reactions have also been very positive.

How does the management team handle these issues?

– In the elementary school management team, with the school director and area directors, we have worked a lot on these issues according to a common interest. My mission is to introduce new communication and collaboration platforms. The teams are the biggest and we worked early according to instructions, it's not always just from the beginning, but we dared to try to show the way.

Do you close other communication channels now?

– Historically, Uppsala has used the intranet Insidan and has created a collaboration, but I have just learned that the education administration has terminated it in principle. I see this as an acknowledgment that you choose Teams instead as a cooperation forum.
